Defragment utility

As files are created, deleted and expanded; the data-blocks associated with these files get spread over all your disks. The defragment utility allows you to put the consecutive blocks of a file on consecutive places on disk. This utility is of interest when you have large files that you don't like to be scattered over your disks. As a result disk-access times will be reduced and overall system responsivness will improve.

Find out with our free place utility how fragmented your files are.

Performance improvements of 50% have been measured on filesystem that where badly fragmented. Even newly created filesystem (created with backup/restore) can be improved by 20%. Check our benchmarks that clearly shows the performance improvement obtained with the defragmentation utility.

REMARK: AIX V4 contains a defragfs command. This command will only defragment the free space in your filesystem, NOT your files !!!!
